Srinagar: Much to the relief of
molestation accused Ex-Health minister, Shabir Ahmad Khan, was granted interim
bail by High Court in Srinagar, up to February 24.
The Court of
Justice Janak Raj Kotwal, accepted the arguments of the councilor of the
accused, advocate Salatia, and issued the bail orders in Khan’s favour.
However, the
court directed the accused to appear before the investigating of the case on
Thursday. “If the accused is arrested he should be granted bail with a personal
bail bond of Rs 25 thousands,” the court said. It also directed the accused not
to leave the state.
Shabir Khan
was evading arrest since a case of molestation was registered against him in
Police Station Shahid Gunj, Srianagar, under FIR no 9/2014 and under sections
354 and 509.
Khan is
accused of molesting a lady doctor in his office chamber in Srinagar. He
resigned a day after the registration of the case.
Police had
rushed a special team to Jammu to arrest Khan, but it could not succeed even
raiding at a number of places in Jammu and Rajouri.
Legislative
Assembly Speaker, Mubarak Gul too had recently given his consent to arrest MLA,
