Srinagar: The authorities will impose
restrictions in down town area of Srinagar on Saturday to prevent any
law and order situation in view of the strike call extended by Huriyat
Conference (M) against the Tosa-Maidan firing range lease agreement.
According to the senior spokesman in the administration,
the authorities are scheduled to invoke section 144, prohibiting any public
assembly in the old city area of Srinagar.
Pertinently, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Chairman Huriyat
Conference (M) Friday reiterated his call for complete strike on
April 12. The High Court Bar Association also extended its support to Mirwaiz’s
strike call- stating that the lease agreement of Tosa-Miadan firing range must
not be extended in Army’s favour. The lease is ending on April 18 this
