Srinagar: Continuing its election
boycott campaign, Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir (HCJK) leaders led by
Shabir Ahmad Shah today addressed a large public gathering at Ompora, Budgam.
According to a statement issued to KNS, the leaders while
terming the upcoming parliamentary elections as a tool to weaken the ongoing
freedom movement appealed people to completely boycott the polls and play their
role in taking the mission of freedom to its logical conclusion.
Among those who addressed the gathering included Shabir
Ahmad Shah, National Front Chairman Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Muslim League chairman
Mushtaq ul Islam, Islamic Political Party chairman Muhammad Yusuf Naqash,
Muslim Conference chairman Shabir Ahmad Dar, Aijaz Ahmad of Liberation Front
and Muhammad Yasin Ataai.
Shah reminded people of their sacrifices which they laid
in pursuance of right of self determination from Indian forcible occupation.
“So it is imperative for you people to boycott the elections. The resistance
movement against Indian forcible occupation demands that polls should be
boycotted.”
Shah said that to vote those people who murdered our
children tantamount to treason with the sacred blood of martyrs. “We cannot
vote those who martyred our great leaders like Shaheed Muhammad Maqbool Bhat,
Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru. Don't forget the sacrifices rendered by our
martyrs and don't enslave your progeny by participating in elections.”
Commenting on the mass human rights violations committed
by Indian forces in Jammu and Kashmir, Shah said lakhs of our youth were killed
for demanding freedom, the families of pro-Hurriyat people were harassed and
thousands of pro- Hurriyat people are still languishing in jails and their
properties sabotaged.
Shah said it would be extremely shameful to forget the
lakhs of sacrifices and oppression which India inflicted here. “We appeal the
nation to revere the blood of martyrs by completely boycotting the upcoming
parliamentary elections,” Shah added. (KNS)
